About Rep. Dave Hayes
Since first elected in November 2012, Rep. Dave Hayes has been serving the 10th Legislative District, which encompasses all of Island County and parts of Snohomish and Skagit counties.
Dave is a sergeant with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office, past instructor and advisor at Everett Community College in the Criminal Justice Department, and past president of the Washington Council of Police and Sheriffs, which serves more than 4,500 law enforcement officers statewide.
Dave serves in a leadership position as whip of the House Republican Caucus. He is also the assistant ranking Republican on the House Public Safety Committee and serves on the House Transportation Committee. In addition, Dave is a member of the Joint Committee on Military and Veterans Affairs.
Dave believes in fully funding K-12 education first without passing unfunded mandates on to our local school districts, keeping taxes low, reducing unnecessary regulations so that small businesses can grow and create jobs, and supporting our police, fire and emergency services departments.
Dave is also a strong supporter of veterans and active duty military personnel, having served in the U.S. Navy as an enlisted aircraft mechanic.
An active member of the Camano Lutheran Church and a board member of the Stanwood-Camano Area Foundation. Dave has also served in his community as a youth football and basketball coach.
Dave and his wife, Lisa, have two adult sons and two granddaughters.
