Oak Harbor teen helps Rep. Hayes in the House

Jake Kiesel, a 16-year-old student at Bible Baptist School in Oak Harbor, recently served as a page in the Washington State House of Representatives. He was sponsored by Rep. Dave Hayes, R-Camano Island.

It was an eye-opening week and helped me to mature a lot. I've been able to meet kids from all over Washington state, deliver messages all over the Capitol campus, and I wrote and presented a bill on gun rights,” said Kiesel.

“It was a pleasure to sponsor Jake. He's a bright, young man who worked hard for us. He's got a great personality and great leadership skills too,” added Hayes.

Each year, young people between the ages of 14 and 16 come to the state Capitol from all over Washington to help the Legislature.  Their duties vary from delivering documents to lawmakers and providing messages to them in committee meetings and on the House floor. They also attend Legislative Page School.

Jake is the son of James and Patricia Kiesel of Oak Harbor.
