Rep. Dave Hayes talks with KAPS-KBRC

Rep. Dave Hayes- R-Camano Island, talks with KAPS-KBRC about legislation he is sponsoring that would require that people who use a weapon in the commission of a crime are registered with the state once they are released from prison.  Although there is currently a statute on the books, felons are only required to follow through if registration is mandated by a judge.  Legislation proposed by Hayes bill would require that criminals who use a gun in the commission of crimes of violence, sexual intent, or which involve a minor would be required to register.

Rep. Hayes also discussed another bill he favors which would streamline the regulation of drivers education training.
